Job overview

Witherow ward is a 12 bedded ward which specialises in male elderly care medicine, which specialises in elderly care medicine. Patients with an average length of stay of 12 days or less. We offer an environment that will enable you to develop and broaden your nursing portfolio including caring for patients with a variety of medical conditions and an in-depth understanding of frailty and hospitalised deconditioning.

You will work as part of the Care of Medicine for the Elderly Team supporting the division and Manager of the Witherow ward to ensure an effective and high quality of care and service is delivered to those patients who access and requires treatment daily.

If you are a Registered Adult Nurse, with experience or newly qualified and would like to join specialist care of the elderly hospital setting and are innovative, driven and passionate about delivering excellent, person-centred care then this job could be for you.

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based.
  • Individualised patient care.
  • Organise one’s own work load ensuring most effective use of time.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
  • Assist in the teaching and development .
  • To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
  • Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the senior sister or charge nurse.
