Named Nurse for Safeguarding

Band 8a

Lewisham and Greenwich Trust provides hospital and community services for more than 526,000 people across south east London. We put patients at the heart of everything we do, which is reflected in the positive feedback we receive. We are a friendly and dynamic place to work, with high levels of job satisfaction and excellent transport links serving our two hospitals – University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Greenwich.

We are seeking dedicated, motivated people to help us provide high quality care to our local communities. In return for your hard work, we offer well-established, structured mentoring and staff development packages to support you in your role.

An exciting opportunity has come up in the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, Safeguarding Children Team, in that we have a vacancy for a full time Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Young People.  The Named Nurse is the Operational Lead in Child Protection / Safeguarding Children matters for the Trust i.e. Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and University Hospital Lewisham.

In collaboration with the strategic lead i.e. Trust Lead Named Nurse and Named Doctors, the post holder is responsible for developing and ensuring safe safeguarding children systems and processes are in place within the Trust for information sharing, training and safeguarding supervision across all services, including community and Adult Areas – clinical and community.

Applicants should be a registered nurse with a minimum of three years in a safeguarding children role (e.g. Advisor or nurse specialist); exceptional communication skills, innovative mind-set and be able to work across the organisation.

In return you will work with a team that aims to deliver a first class service and aspires to continuously improve outcomes for children, their families and support frontline practitioners to deliver quality healthcare.

This is a very exciting and unique opportunity to develop and extend your skills and knowledge in the dynamic safeguarding children profession.

The closing date for this application is 22nd September and if you are shortlisted – interviews will take place on 4th October 2019 – there will be a presentation, to present.
