Job overview

We are looking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic, and motivated Band 6 ED nurse, to join our friendly and supportive team. If you have been working as a senior band 5 in ED and have completed your mentorship and have undertaken the ED course and are ready to take the next step in your nursing career and develop leadership and management skills, this might be the perfect opportunity for you.

 

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will act as a role model for the junior team members in the delivery of high-quality patient centred care.
  • They will deputise for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and will support with the leadership and management of the department particularly focusing on clinical care and standards.
  • The post holder will work within the NMC Code, trust policies, guidance, and procedures to ensure safe working practice.
  • We offer a structured orientation and on-going support and guidance. We follow the RCN National Emergency Nursing Framework competencies. As well as supporting our staff’s professional development we offer a New Well-being space, outside areas including designated garden areas as well as fitness classes including a running group. Each of our departments also have wellbeing champions.

  • Considerable ED experience at Band 5. Working within all areas of the department.
Desirable criteria
  • In charge experience of an area or part of department

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Aware of cultural and social influences on health care
  • Understanding of research and it’s application to practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of National issues relating to Emergency Care

Qualifications

  • Paediatric Registered Nurse with current NMC Pin
  • ENB 998 or equivalent mentorship course
  • Specialist A&E Course or working towards it
  • PiLs
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • ALS/EPLS
  • Educated to degree level or working towards it
