Job overview
We are seeking a full-time Band 8a Senior Colleague to join our busy and dynamic CAMHS Team in the London Borough of Havering. We have a growing and supportive clinical team, and we are looking for a Access and Assessment Lead, who will be leading Access in to CAMHS, delivering and supporting assessment and flow aiding us in the delivery of high quality and effective CAMHS interventions.
This role requires a post-graduate qualified Family Therapist/ Registered Nurse/Social Worker/Occupational Therapist who is registered with the appropriate professional and regulatory bodies (NMC, HCPC, GSW, AFT and UKCP) and has at least two years’ experience in delivering family therapy/mental health interventions/assessments in a CAMHS (or similar child and adolescent mental health) setting.
The service operates a 9am-5pm Monday -Friday service from the main site in Romford, which is a short walk away from the new TFL Elizabeth Line. We provide access, assessment, treatment following recommended guidance to a growing population of 0–18-year-olds. We work as a fully integrated MDT working alongside and in collaboration with primary care, universal, targeted and specialised MH services, as well as our educational providers and local authority colleagues
Main duties of the job
This post involves assessing and treating children and young people who present with moderate to severe mental health difficulties in a community CAMHS setting. The successful candidate will work and lead the Access and Assessment function within the team.
The post holder will receive regular clinical supervision and will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings as well as network meetings of cases on their caseload. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social care professionals and partnership agencies as we promote a trauma informed model of practice within the service. CPD opportunities will be available.
The post holder will be part of the CAMHS leadership team, working with other senior clinicians in the team to develop the service and meet the changing needs of a diverse population.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High-Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary. (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735).
