Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Clinical nurse Endoscopist. This is a full time role. The requirement is for an Endoscopist who can perform Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Flexible sigmoidoscopy. There role will also include JAG sessions to help progress towards accreditation. Partaking in audits and assisting with unit user group meetings. 

Main duties of the job

To perform Endoscopic procedures competently.

Review histology.

Clinically review patients.

Assist with direct access.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

PURPOSE

      To perform autonomous diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopic examinations

      To provide training for appropriate clinical staff in upper and lower GI Endoscopy 

      To lead trans nasal Endoscopy services to support faster diagnostic targets.

JOB SUMMARY

       Work autonomously as an advanced practitioner within the speciality of Endoscopy, performing both upper and lower GI endoscopy, managing a caseload of patients delivering individualised direct patient care. 

       To exercise and demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgement, discretion and clinical decision-making. 

       To ensure the provision of research based expert and holistic care and advice to patients and their families/carers with Colorectal and Upper GI conditions.

       To work in close liaison with Lead Nurse Endoscopy, Service Manager, Gastroenterologists, and wider MDT to ensure the delivery of safe effective and high-quality patient care.

       To take a key role in service development and training requirements through education and clinical practice for both nurses and doctors

       To provide specialist one to one training in upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy for medical trainees.

       To take an active role in ensuring that Global Rating Score (GRS) is completed in a timely manner, support the successful application and maintenance of JAG accreditation.

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Nursing Degree
  • MSc level qualification in Endoscopy
  • JAG accredited Endoscopist
  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
  • Teaching and Mentoring qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post registration experience in GI endoscopic
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of Gastrointestinal conditions
  • Autonomous Endoscopist upper and lower GI
  • Advanced Life support
