Job overview

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Bank Rehabilitation Assistant to join  Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) on our temporary bank team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the rehabilitation and recovery of patients within community and/or inpatient settings.

Working Pattern:
Monday – Friday
08:30 – 16:30 or 09:00 – 17:00

Role Overview:
You will support qualified staff in delivering rehabilitation programmes to older adults, helping individuals regain and maintain independence following illness, injury, or falls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting patients with rehabilitation exercises and mobility programmes
  • Assisting with activities of daily living to promote independence
  • Supporting falls prevention and mobility improvement strategies
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Using appropriate community equipment and mobility aids safely
  • Monitoring and reporting patient progress to qualified staff

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver an effective and competent level of therapy programme, set up by therapists within the team, under the guidance and supervision of the therapy staff. This will be led by the client’s rehabilitation plan and will include supporting the work of the OTs, PTs and other team members.
  • To carry out simple assessments of patients referred to the team in terms of equipment provision independently.
  • To promptly report any therapy programme concerns to an appropriate professional as indicated by that professional’s “professional guidelines”
  • To consistently deliver a client-focussed service which promotes optimum independence in the clients home
  • To adhere to the in-house code of conduct and attend mandatory and in service training.
  • To take a lead role in the induction of other Rehabilitation assistants

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level, with English and Mathematics at grade C or above
  • NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or Promoting Independence or Rehabilitation or equivalent undergraduate award
Desirable criteria
  • Member of relevant specialist interest group.
  • NVQ Therapeutic and Diagnostic Support Level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Moderate experience of working in a caring role in the NHS for at least a year, including patients with physical disabilities. Experience working as a member of a team
  • Sound understanding of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of recent NHS developments and how they may impact on patient care.
  • Current issues in the delivery of Services for older people
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural society
  • Experience of working in the community
  • Experience of working as an assistant in a health and social care setting

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Competent IT skills
  • Effective numeracy skills
  • Awareness of health &social issues relating to physical disabilities
  • Ability to undertake prescribed therapy activities independently
  • Ability to participate in administration and clerical duties
