Maternity Support Worker - Willow Team

Band 3

Job overview

Maternity Support Worker - Willow Team

This is an exciting opportunity for Band 3 Maternity Support Workers to join our maternity services as part of the Willow Team. You will provide care and support during pregnancy and the immediate postnatal period for individuals with complex social factors or vulnerabilities. Service users may include survivors of abuse, migrants, asylum seekers or refugees, and those affected by substance misuse, learning disabilities, or neurodivergent conditions.

As we continue to develop and expand our maternity services, we are looking for experienced and enthusiastic senior support workers to join our multi‑disciplinary team. This is a chance to contribute to compassionate, personalised, and safe care, making a meaningful difference to both experience and outcomes.

This role requires someone who can use their initiative, adapt to changing needs and pressures, and demonstrate reliability and responsibility. You will work under the guidance and supervision—both direct and indirect—of Registered Health Professionals, so it is essential that you are motivated, collaborative, and team‑focused. Excellent communication skills, a sound understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality, and a flexible approach to work are all vital.

Main duties of the job

To assist the midwife - across hospital, community, or other settings - in providing individualised, person-centered care through physical, social, and psychological support to women, birthing people, and their families throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey.
You will provide administrative support, prepare and maintain a safe environment, and implement basic care duties, performing delegated clinical procedures under the guidance and direction of the Midwives and practitioners from the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
