As our maternity services continue to grow and develop, we are delighted to offer exciting opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated Maternity Support Workers to join our friendly and supportive team at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking confident, compassionate, and competent individuals who are committed to delivering high‑quality, safe, and personalised care. Working as part of our multi‑disciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting women, babies, and their families throughout pregnancy and the immediate postnatal period—helping to improve experiences and make a meaningful difference to outcomes
Main duties of the job
To assist the midwife in providing individualised, family-centered care through physical, social, and psychological support to birthing parents and their families throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey.
You will provide administrative support, prepare and maintain a safe environment, and implement basic care packages, performing delegated clinical procedures under the guidance and direction of the Midwives and practitioners from the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

- GCSE Maths and English grades A-C/4-9, Functional Skills Level 2
- NVQ Level 3/Diploma in health-related subject/Care Certificate
Experience

- Relevant previous experience within maternity or a similar healthcare/NHS setting
- Able to work independently under guidance, and within multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of working with the public/in a patient-facing role
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- IT skills appropriate to role
- Clinical competences to undertake basic care packages including maternal and neonatal observations, venepuncture, CO monitoring, blood glucose, tissue viability, ECGs
