Midwifery Clinical Skills Educator - 22.5 hours per week - Permanent
We are seeking an experienced and motivated NMC Registered Midwife for this specialist role which requires you to be a visible and proactive role model, supporting development and retention of early career midwives.
You will be confident in both working independently and collaborating with others in the provision of high-quality learning experiences within the maternity unit for all staff in the maternity team, with a focus on Newly Qualified Midwives and Internationally Recruited Midwives undertaking the Midwifery Preceptorship programme.
Main duties of the job
· Work as an integral member of the team to deliver appropriate strategies and support for new starters, to enhance staff engagement, staff satisfaction and promote retention of early career midwives.
· Participate in the effective ‘onboarding’ of new starters, including orientation programmes and practical advice relating to their areas of clinical practice.
· Help to facilitate a positive working environment for people in their early career, ensuring effective communication and proactive working relationships.
· Act as an expert resource and champion learning in practice - supporting consolidation of knowledge and skills and promoting evidence-based practice.
· Lead in the clinical environment on the provision of preceptorship skills support and assessment of competence to support Preceptors and Preceptees in the completion of the Midwifery Preceptorship programme requirements.
· Work with early career midwives and key partners to identify any additional support needs and support the creation and implementation of personal development plans.
· Promote reflective practice, developing a culture in the clinical environment which values learning and high quality care.
