Fairfield General Hospital is recruiting to a new and developing In-Patient Discharge Unit
If you are motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about providing patient centred care, then ward 24 is for you. Ward 24 is a 24 bedded in-patient facility and operates alongside a Discharge Lounge. The ward’s ethos is to prevent deterioration of patients whilst they are being cared for and to support and assist the integrated discharge team with enabling patients to go home from hospital rather than short/long term care. A home first approach is essential in this role. This is achieved by encouraging all patients to mobilise at every opportunity, challenging discharge pathways and carrying out Strength-Based Conversations.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
Main Tasks & Overview of Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain communication with people on routine and operational matters
- Contribute to own personal development
- Assist in maintaining own and others’ health, safety and security
- Assist in maintaining and developing services

Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with members of the public or a desire to work in the Health Service
- Understanding of routine work procedures gained through a short induction period and on the job training
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a health or social care environment
- Experience of working within a team
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Care Certificate either upon appointment or within 12 weeks of commencement
- Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship already achieved
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good communication skills
- Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
- Good organisational skills
- Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
