Job overview

The Phlebotomist is an integral member of WTWA clinical team : He/she will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing venepuncture on patients requiring blood tests.

Successful candidates will contribute to the efficient performance of the phlebotomy team in the provision of services to wards and clinics. 
This role incorporates some cross site working between Trafford Hospital and Altrincham Hospital. 

Main duties of the job

As part of the Phlebotomist team at WTWA MFT candidates must meet the following criteria.

Evidence direct patient care experience working in a health care setting.

Must have the ability to put patients at ease and remain calm in an emergency

Attention to detail to ensure positive patient identification.

The ability to organise and prioritise duties and tasks

Knowledge of a range of software packages such as Hive, Microsoft word.

Health & Safety and Infection control awareness and how it applies to a Health Care setting.

Self-motivated, Flexible to work mornings and afternoons.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Functional skills Level 1, Maths and English or Education equivalents
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health/care certificate or relevant experience

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Direct patient care working in a health care seting
  • Health and Safety and Infection control awareness
Desirable criteria
  • Working within an acute hospital environment on wards or clinics

Skills and abilitys

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills - written and verbal
  • Attention to detail to ensure positive patient identification
