Job overview

The post holder will be a member of the theatre team, providing support and assistance to professionally qualified staff and other team members.  Responsibilities will include transfer and collection of patients to and from ward areas, equipment care, infection prevention / control, ancillary and clerical duties. The current post requirement is to support a 6-day service with a potential of change to 7-day service due to future developments to the role and service requirements.

Main duties of the job

Main Roles for a Theatre Porter:

  • Be a member of the theatre team, providing support and assistance to professionally qualified staff and other team members.

  • Responsibilities include:

    • Transfer and collection of patients to and from ward areas.

    • Equipment care.

    • Infection prevention/control.

    • Ancillary and clerical duties.

  • The current post requirement is to support a 6-day service, with the potential to change to a 7-day service due to future developments in the role and service requirements.
