Advanced Practitioner Emergency Medicine
Band 8a
Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Practitioner who is ready to take on a new and exciting challenge within the Emergency Village.
You will be a key member of the wider Advanced Practice team within the Emergency Department, working closely with the Senior Advanced Practitioner, Emergency Department Consultants, and the broader nursing and therapy teams across the Emergency Village.
This role will be primarily based within the Minor Injuries area of the Emergency Department. You will be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner, demonstrating a broad clinical skill set and expert knowledge in the assessment and management of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions within the emergency care setting.
The position offers excellent opportunities to further develop your emergency care skills across both injury and illness presentations. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the orthopaedic team through involvement in virtual trauma and fracture clinics.
Main duties of the job
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will be expected to work across all four pillars of advanced practice. You will be supported in maintaining an active Advanced Practice portfolio and will be allocated non-clinical time to help fulfil these responsibilities.
You will contribute to ongoing development projects within the Emergency Department and invest in your own continued professional growth, engaging with both in-house initiatives and regional networks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Active participation in Emergency Department team meetings
- Access to a comprehensive in-house clinical supervision and mentoring package
- Involvement in, and potential leadership of, departmental research and audit initiatives
- Delivering teaching sessions both internally and at local or national level
- Supporting the development of Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Trainee Advanced Practitioners
- Active involvement in clinical governance meetings.
