We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Nurse to join the nursing team on Ward H7 to cover maternity leave for 9 months as a Band 6 nurse.
Ward H7 is a 22 bedded Neurosurgical ward which takes elective neurosurgical patients.

The Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust serves the population of Greater Manchester. The centre has over 150 in-patient beds with sub-specialities including complex ENT, Spinal Surgery, short stay and complex, Major Trauma, Acute Neurology, Stroke Services (Hyper-acute and Rehabilitation), Programme Investigation Unit, and Hyper- Acute Neuro Rehabilitation.
As a deputy to the Ward Manager you must be able to deliver the same standards of care and support the team and maintain standards. You should also be politically aware, be able to create vision for the team, and influence change in the clinical area.
The role is pressured at times, and you will need to be proactive and be able to work with or without direction.
Main duties of the job
At Salford Royal we aim to deliver Safe, Clean and Personal care every time and are committed in continuously striving to improve the care and services we deliver to our patients. Both wards aim to maintain SCAPE standards as assessed through the Trust Nursing Assessment and Accreditation System
You will have appropriate experience and the ability to lead a team in the absence of the Unit Manager, you will wish to develop your leadership skills further.
You will need to ensure that as well as providing clinical leadership, and taking responsibility for direct staff management and the running of the ward, you have the ability to meet deadlines the skills and desire to manage care within budget.
You will have vision for how the Ward and team can be developed and be able to demonstrate evidence of how you have met goals in your current role.
You will also be expected to provide evidence of how your leadership skills have positively affected team dynamics and improved clinical standards within your current role also.
You must be able to motivate staff to achieve high standards, and possess excellent communication skills to ensure that the aims of the organisation are achieved.

- First Degree in nursing or an equivalent portfolio of evidence.

- Post basic qualification in specialty.

- Evidence of clinical expertise and knowledge acquired through CPD and experience.
- Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners.
- Evidence of involvement in the development of protocols and clinical audit.
- Evidence of ability to take charge in the absence of their direct line manager.
