Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dynamic and committed individual to join the Treehouse Unit. We are looking to appoint a Paediatric Clinical Nurse Educator who is an experienced nurse, wanting to help make a difference to the development and support of our clinical workforce. 

You will support the development of evidenced based clinical skills and competence in line with National, Local and Trust policies and guidelines for our staff, including newly qualified registrants undergoing preceptorship. The role will help to ensure staff are enabled to deliver high quality and compassionate care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

While the role is primarily clinically based working alongside staff, you will be required to facilitate formal teaching and support the development of policies and guidelines. You will work in collaboration with clinicians, service leads and workforce colleagues to ensure that the clinical education and development needs of the workforce are identified and addressed.

If you are a caring and compassionate Paediatric Nurse with an interest in education, who demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills and strives to role model the Trust's behaviours and values, we want to hear from you. The successful individual will have full support from the senior management team and the opportunity to develop their own skills and competencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

If so come and join us for an exciting new role as a Paediatric Clinical Nurse Educator in the acute paediatric service.

This new role will help to transform the service and will include teaching and coaching in a variety of clinical skills and educational settings. Our vision is to have a workforce that is committed, adaptive and uses a strong team approach to delivering care. You will play a key part in this by helping us to recruit, train, and retain our staff, alongside developing our students and learners. You will also contribute to the development of new competencies, study days and leadership skills to support and maintain a safe, effective workforce now and into the future.

  • Substantial clinical experience
  • Evidence of excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development
  • Implementation of audit/research

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Paediatric Nurse
  • Educated to degree level or able to provide relevant associated experience
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification, PGCE or willing to work towards
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support qualification
  • Evidence of further Paediatric courses relevant to role
