The Research and Innovation Centre at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has an exciting opportunity as a Band 7 Advanced Research Nurse.
The aim of this post is to bring about greater access for research in order to provide a unique and enviable framework to enhance delivery of world class research.
They will embark on a programme of dual training for both Oncology and Haematology systemic anticancer treatments. They must be motivated and willing to undergo training in the Haematology and chemotherapy fields.
As an Advanced Research Nurse, you will be responsible for supporting the senior management team in ensuring that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care. As a center of excellence, you will offer a person-centered approach to their independence and well-being.
You will have a dual base location at CCC Liverpool and CCC Wirral.
As we deliver treatments in sector hubs and clinics across Liverpool and Aintree, there will be an element of cross cover required during training and once training has been completed. This will include travelling to all of our peripheral sites:

Main duties of the job
The Primary aim of this post is to bring about greater access for research in order to provide a unique and enviable framework to enhance delivery of world class research.
The post holder will be a Registered General Nurse and most maintain an NMC registration
The successful candidate will actact as an advanced autonomous practitioner, supporting patients on Commercial, and Experimental Cancer Medicines (ECMC) clinical trials.
In doing so will demonstrate a high level of practice and knowledge, working as a key member of the multi- disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support in the care of patients on clinical trials.
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed trials protocol and clinical guidelines. Functions in a variety of role dimensions: health care provider, educator, supervisor to junior staff, researcher, auditor, clinical advocate and implementer of research and clinical governance.
The post holder is employed and managed by Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, but will be required to travel across a number of NHS trusts within Merseyside and Cheshire. Regular travel will be expected between CCC Wirral, Liverpool and Aintree sites.
Employees must be aware of and accept the requirement to work at other sites across the Clinical Network within reason. Any changes will be subject to consultation with the post holder.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Level One Nurse, with current registration
- BSC Professional practice or equivalent
- Relevant Post Registration qualification in specialist area
- ICH / GCP trained
- Evidence of continuous personal, professional development
Desirable criteria
- Leadership qualification
- Advanced Communication Skills
- Intermediate Life Support qualification
- Educated to Masters level
- Experience of managing complex studies
- UKONS qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post registration experience in haemato-oncology/oncology including experience at a senior level
- Previous research experience.
- Experience of managing a portfolio of complex cancer clinical trials.
Desirable criteria
- Skilled in the administration of cytotoxic agents
- Experience in Leadership and change management.
- Experience of writing policies and procedures
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- Extensive knowledge of clinical practice and treatments within specialist area including treatment induced side-effects
- Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships
- Knowledge of the key professional issues and NMC guidelines (or equivalent governing body) relating to professional practice
- Knowledge of the clinical trials process
- Knowledge of Research Governance framework
