We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our team on Chavasse ward . Chavasse is a 29 bedded ward specialising in neurology. You will work as part of a wider MDT supporting patients requiring specialist neurological care.
The post is advertised at Band 3, however applicants who do not yet meet all Band 3 competencies may be appointed at Band 2 on a developmental basis. The Trust will support successful candidates appointed at Band 2 to achieve the required competencies, with progression to Band 3 once these are met.
Competencies must be achieved within a maximum of 6 months.
Please do not apply if you are unable to meet the required shift patterns including night shifts and bank holiday cover.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job
- Deliver high‑quality, compassionate, patient‑centred care under the supervision of registered staff
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal care, mobility and nutrition
- Support nursing staff with clinical observations, recording and reporting changes in a patient’s condition
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with Trust policies
- Promote patient dignity, safety and infection prevention at all times
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team
Developmental Opportunity (Band 2–3)
Applicants appointed at Band 2 will:
- Follow a structured development plan aligned to Band 3 competencies
- Receive supervision, training and support from the ward team
- Be expected to demonstrate progress against competencies regularly
- Progress to Band 3 once all required competencies are achieved, within 6 months of appointment
