Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Surgical Specialties Care Group for a ward manager position on ward 28.
We are a 25 bedded acute Head and Neck Surgical Ward, caring for complex pre and post-operative patients.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Ward Manager to lead our dynamic Head and Neck Surgery Ward. Essential experience is required within Head and Neck, Critical Care, and Respiratory Nursing.
Essential experience - 2 Years minimum at band 6 level.
As a pivotal member of our leadership team, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team, promote continuous improvement, and foster a positive and collaborative working environment

Provide leadership, support, and mentorship to the nursing and healthcare team.

Ensure the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based patient care.

Manage staffing levels, budgets, and resources effectively to maintain operational excellence.

Drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with consultants, specialists, and other key stakeholders.

Foster a culture of learning, development, and well-being within the team
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to be a motivated leader, with excellent managerial and leadership skills, who has the drive and passion to create an inspirational learning and working environment, that continuously strives for the highest standards of quality care and has patient safety at the forefront of the services and care provided. You will be supported in your role by the Matron and a dedicated team of medical and nursing staff.

The post holder will have management responsibility for the ward/department over the 24hr period, ensuring a high standard of nursing care.
Key responsibilities will include the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, effective leadership and staff management/development
The post holder will always work within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct

- Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
- Teaching and assessing qualification
- Post registration qualification in specialty

- 1st level degree or studying towards

- Evidence of staff development, including pre and post registration students
