Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to become part of the Research Nursing Team at the Neuroscience Research Centre, here at the Walton Centre.  The research nursing team in the NRC  provides exceptional specialist nursing care to a wide variety of patients taking part in both Neurology and Neurosurgery clinical trials.  

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in clinical research, leadership experience, and a passion for advancing healthcare through innovative research practices. They should possess a relevant nursing qualification and be registered with the appropriate regulatory body.

The successful applicant will provide clinical management and support to the existing Research Team, having oversight of our neurological portfolio of studies and playing an integral part in the feasibility and set up of clinical trials, in collaboration with R&D. You will provide leadership and management for our Clinical Trials delivery unit, driving the education and assessment programme for our delivery team.

Main duties of the job

Management of staff, including appraisals, workload, performance and adherence to Trust policies.

Patient recruitment and neurological portfolio management/oversight.

Supporting other team members with day to day delivery of the  portfolio.

Management of documentation to support all research activity.

Promote and support departmental education and training.

Instigate and implement service improvement.

Ensure quality standards are maintained within delivery service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Educated to degree level
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional, personal and academic development
  • Post registration teaching qualification, eg Mentorship course/ ENB 998
  • ICH GCP certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant post registration qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post registration clinical research nursing experience
  • Experience of formal/informal teaching of patients/staff
  • Experience of mentoring and developing staff
  • Managerial/Team leader experience
  • An understanding of resource management
