Job overview
We are looking to recruit a forward thinking, highly motivated and experienced nurse leader who will champion a high level of professional standards and excellence within the Division of Medicine as a Divisional based Clinical Practice Educator.
Main duties of the job
The clinical practice educator will work collaboratively with the Ward Sisters and Senior Nursing Team to deliver effective, high quality, safe patient centred care across all clinical sites.
They will support the continuing education, training and professional development of staff, including preceptorship and induction of newly qualified nursing staff promoting the acquisition of new skills and knowledge.
They will also assist in the development and implementation of appropriate protocols and standard operating procedures and undertake associate clinical audits as directed to ensure that all staff are able to acquire and adhere to the professional standards and competencies required in nursing practice.

Essential criteria
- NMC or HCPC registered (depending on department)
Desirable criteria
- Teaching and assessing qualification
- Leadership & management qualification
- Educated to degree level
- Experience in incident investigation and action plan
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience
- Preceptorship/Mentorship training
- Good presentation skills
Desirable criteria
- Clinical audit & action planning
- Experience in performance management processes
- Root cause analysis and incident investigation training
- Training in human factors/non-technical skills and simulation
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate within a multidisciplinary team
- Able to develop and implement training programmes
Desirable criteria
- Able to deal with complex issues
- Ability to deal with difficult conversation
