The Research and Innovation centre at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse to join our clinical delivery team.
The successful Candidates must hold a recognised NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
Previous experience in oncology and clinical research is essential , and it is desirable that applicants holds a UKONS chemotherapy passport
The Primary aim of this post is to bring about greater access for research in order to provide a unique and enviable framework to enhance delivery of world class research.
As an Clinical Research Nurse you will be responsible for supporting the Advanced Research Nurse and Lead for the Early phase to administrate ECMC /Early phase trial related drugs. Ensuring that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care per protocol . As a centre of excellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence and well-being.
You will have a dual base location at CCC Wirral and CCC Liverpool, primarily based at CCC Liverpool, as we deliver our research across both sites

Main duties of the job
The Clinical Research Nurse-
This is an additional band 6 Clinical Research that will strengthen the delivery and the assessment of early phase research across both the clinical delivery unit and the inpatient research setting.
The post holder will work closely with the ARNs and wider research team to support the safe administration, monitoring and assessment of trial related treatments
The post holder will jointly manage the Clinical Delivery team ensuring day to day operations are streamlined and will provide cross cover during periods of absence or annual leave
The R&I directorate is a busy environment and working to deadlines with frequent interruption is the norm. Ability to work under pressure, pay close attention to detail and organise the priority of own workload is absolutely essential.
Individual training will be provided to meet the needs of the post-holder.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Level One registration
- Graduate level qualification in relevant discipline, be working towards one or be prepared to study at this level
- Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development
- Chemotherapy (SACT) trained in either oncology or haematology
Desirable criteria
- Qualification in oncology and/or clinical research
- Advanced Communication Qualification
- NMC approved mentor course/ or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships
- Has a working knowledge of the purpose of clinical research.
- Advanced knowledge of oncology treatments and side effects
Desirable criteria
- Has basic knowledge of recent NHS legislation and recommendations in the field of cancer and palliative care
- Knowledge of ICH GCP
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working autonomously and part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Applicants should be able to evidence extensive oncology experience and confidence in managing complex treatment within a research or clinical setting.
- Experience of leadership/management of staff at band 6 level
- The post holder must be a Register Adult nurse with substantial post-registration experience at Band 6 level or (equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- Experience of participating in audit
