Work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to surgical speciality patients with support and supervision provided by a registered health careprofessional. 

Undertake personal care activities and clinical care duties with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registeredhealthcare professional in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation. 

Ensure the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/client’s condition and progress. 

Ensure the working environment is safe and hygienic following infection prevention and control policies and processes. 

Contributes to the teaching and supervision of students and junior staff. 

Delivers role in accordance with Health Board/Trust Values and Code of Conduct for HCSW’s in Wales. 

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the registered nurse and will be expected to undertake fundamental aspects of patient care as well as undertaking delegated care duties as directed by a registered healthcare professional as detailed in the Band 3 job description. 

The individual will be required to have good communication skills to be able to relate to patients, members of patients families and the multidisciplinary team that work within the clinical area. 

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions.
