Job overview

The successful candidate will work as part of the Ward B2 team in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, to provide nursing support to adults with rehabilitation needs, enhanced care needs and to support complex discharge planning. 

We are looking for compassionate, motivated and reliable individuals who have a desire to care for adults in the community hospital setting. Within this role you will be part of the team caring for patients.

Main duties of the job

Do you have a passion for community nursing and are looking to develop your knowledge and skills within this field. If so, we currently have a Band 2 vacancy within our Community Hospitals in CTMUHB, where free car parking is available.

The team of qualified nurses and health care support workers provide nursing support to adults with rehabilitation needs and support complex discharge planning, ensuring that patients are discharged to the most appropriate destination.

We are looking for compassionate, motivated and reliable individuals who have a desire to care for adults in the community hospital setting. Within this role you will be part of the team caring for patients.

The post holder will be part of an integrated team. You will be supported in your role by the registered nurses, Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education including numeracy and literacy skills
Desirable criteria
  • Possesses or working towards NVQ Level II.
  • Award GCSE’s or similar qualifications
  • Experinece of working within a care setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate effective verbal communication skills with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team alike
  • Ability to demonstrate effective non-verbal communication skills i.e. effective listening skills, positive body language.
  • Ability to demonstrate acceptable written skills for the production of patient reports.
Desirable criteria
  • IT skills
  • Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
