Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated psychological therapist to join our local primary Mental health support service team in Taff Ely and Rhondda

The main purpose of this job is to provide a range of innovative psychological interventions including evidence based structured interventions as well as psychological counselling to the primary care mental health services within an assigned locality. The post has been created to respond innovatively to the Mental Health Measure and to increase the capacity to deliver effective psychological treatments in primary care.

We are particularly interested in receiving applications for therapists with a background in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and in delivering group interventions.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will be expected to deliver high intensity psychological therapies as designated by the Matrics Cymru and within the scope of the service users who may have mild to moderate mental health problems or more complex but stable presentations.

Delivering evidence-based interventions developed from psychological theory and practice ie standardised psychological therapies (CBT IPT etc) delivered to protocol.

You will work closely with other members of the team to ensure appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are utilised to support good transitions as part of a stepped/matched care approach.  Act in ways, which support the values of recovery-focused care, which place the service user and their needs at the centre of care.

Informal visits are encouraged prior to interview for those shortlisted candidates.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see ‘Welsh Language Guidance’ in the documents right at the bottom.
