NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

Our Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital incorporates Children’s Inpatient, Ambulatory, Emergency, Neonatal and Outpatient care. We treat children and young people across a broad range of specialties including Paediatric Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, plastics and much more. We also have a dedicated Surgical and medical HDU. Our collaborative team care to children living in Norfolk and for those accessing specialist treatments across the Eastern Region.

We currently have a paediatric registered nurse Band 5 Vacancy within Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to employ highly motivated and skilled and experienced paediatric nurse Band 5 who will be responsible for promoting and implementing practice conducive to the development of high-quality child/ young person and family centred care by providing professional, clinical and managerial leadership.

You will take charge of the Ward/Department in the absence of the Ward/Departmental Sister/Charge Nurse and provide support and guidance to all staff. 

You will also support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence.

  • To manage the ward/department environment and staffing in the absence of a senior member of staff.

  • To complete the mentorship preparation programme, act as a mentor and provide supervision to junior staff and other learners.

  • Maintain Continuous Professional Development in line with Trust Policy and professional bodies.
