Community Team Manager – Young Adults Mental Health Services (YAMHS)

East Suffolk

This is an exciting opportunity to join East Suffolk Young Adults Mental Health Services (YAMHS), supporting young adults aged 18–25 during a crucial stage of their lives. Our service sits within Children, Families and Young People (CFYP) and benefits from a well-established Young Adults pathway and clinical treatment pathways designed to deliver responsive, high-quality care.

As Community Team Manager for Central YAMHS, you will provide operational leadership for service delivery, working closely with a Community Matron and an Operational Manager to ensure excellent outcomes for service users. You will also be part of a supportive wider network, linking closely with East Suffolk YAMHS and CAMHS teams, benefiting from strong peer support and clinical collaboration.

This role offers a range of leadership, development and training opportunities to support your professional growth and career aspirations.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated leader with experience of working in community mental health services with young people or adults. You will bring experience of working across primary and secondary care, as well as with VCSE partners, and share our commitment to delivering safe, effective and compassionate care.

Main duties of the job

As Community Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership and governance to ensure the delivery of a safe, responsive and high-quality service for service users, their families and carers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing visible, values-based leadership and acting as a positive role model within the service
  • Managing and supporting the team to ensure staff are appropriately trained, informed and competent in their roles
  • Ensuring robust systems are in place for supervision, appraisal, objective setting and personal development
  • Allocating and overseeing caseloads to ensure safe practice and the effective use of resources
  • Maintaining safe staffing levels within agreed budgets
  • Monitoring team performance and contribution to Trust objectives
  • Promoting a person-centred approach that actively involves service users, families and carers in care planning and delivery

Essential criteria
  • Nursing Degree or equivalent, Dip SW, or Dip OT, or equivalent or HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Ongoing professional development, Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice - Post basic teaching qualification - ILM certificate in management or equivalent

Expereince

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate experience at a senior clinical level including staff management / supervision experience
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of providing leadership in a Mental Health care environment including service development
  • -Mentoring Experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Competent and effective treatment skills
