Job overview
Harrogate District NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner for our Oncology Service working across acute oncology and medical oncology.
The role will work alongside the established Oncology and Acute Oncology team, comprising of Consultant Medical and Clinical Oncology Consultants, Acute Oncology team, Clinical Nurse Specialist team and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. The team work closely with colleagues from the tertiary centre in Leeds enabling the best treatment and care for our patients.
The successful candidate will be supported in completing an MSC in Advanced Clinical practice progressing through band 6 and 7 with the expectation that on successful completion the post holder will move into a qualified ACP role at band 8a. It is anticipated that applicants will have significant experience of working within Oncology and a good understanding of cancer treatments and pathways.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a growing dynamic team of Advanced Practitioners here at HDFT and will be based in the Acute Oncology Team
The purpose of the role will be:
· To undertake 3 years training programme, under the supervision of an identified expert clinician to prepare for progression to Advanced Practitioner (Band 8A). This will involve undertaking and successfully completing work-based competencies, an MSc in Advanced Practice, and an apprenticeship end point assessment as well as other training as required by the post. The trainee will also be supported by experienced APs.
· To deliver high quality care to patients presenting with a variety of conditions, which will include, prescribing, advanced clinical decision-making, advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment. The role will involve being an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, and as part of safe delivery of essential services, the ACP role will be required to develop competencies to practice as part of an oncology team covering the specialties of Lung, Breast, Urology, GI and acute oncology.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised Teaching and Assessing course (e.g Mentor Preparation, SLIP, Clinical Educator course, PGCE)
- Eligible to undertake a MSC in Advanced Clinical Practice.
- Registered Practitioner (e.g. NMC/HPC) able to undertake extended prescribing
- Degree in relevant health care related subject.
Desirable criteria
- Independant prescriber
- Evidence of higher level of practice within the specialist area
- Post-registration qualification in autonomous / specialist/advanced assessment practice
- Post – registration qualifications in medical Oncology / Acute Oncology[
- ILS/ALS.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience and knowledge of oncology
- Demonstrate relevant clinical and managerial experience.
- Teaching and assessment experience in clinical practice.
- Demonstrate experience of clinical leadership.
- Evidence of managing change in clinical practice, with the ability to lead and motivate others.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of role specific advanced/extended clinical skills
