Children’s Services Outpatient Nurse Manager

Job overview
Harrogate Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experience nurse to join the Children's Outpatient Department as Department manager.
The successful candidate will provide high quality, evidence based nursing care in a clinic setting and facilitate the smooth and efficient running of the service. The post holder will have a continuing responsibility for the needs of the department, as well as development, implementation and evaluation of care pathways. Oversee the coordination of the nursing and support team, and staffing according to clinic activity and patient flow through the Outpatient department and across all areas.
Main duties of the job
- Take responsibility for all aspects of the day to day management and nursing care provided by Children's Outpatients
- To provide professional leadership including line management, supervision/appraisal within the outpatient department
- To drive the implementation of national best practice guidance for paediatrics across the organisation, working in collaboration with the Matron for Children's Services and Children's Specialist Nurses
- To offer specialist advice and support to health care professionals
- To contribute to strategies and policies for service improvement and development
- Setting standards of care in conjunction with other disciplines, co-ordinate services so that total patient care needs are identified; ensuring individual patient care is given. This involves regular reviewing and updating of patient information, working protocols and pathways.
- This post will provide managerial advice and support to staff and patients.
- The successful candidate will maintain a safe working environment, being aware of the necessity to comply with Health & Safety regulations, maintenance and provision of equipment bearing in mind Infection Control policies, decontamination processes and COSHH requirements.
- The successful candidate will be accountable for and manage budgets and ensure cost effectiveness.

- Teaching / Mentoring qualification
- Evidence of on-going professional development.
- Degree level of study or significant and relevant experience.
- Management / Leadership qualification or demonstrate similar experience
- Previous experience within an Outpatient department
Desirable criteria
- Masters Level study
- Nurse Prescriber (or working towards)
- Management of patient care within an Outpatient setting
