Job overview

As we progress through a period of positive change, we are inviting applicants to join our evolving maternity team as one of our Digital lead Midwives 

As Digital Lead Midwife, you will lead on supporting the use of digital technology within the maternity department and play a key role in the introduction of a maternity electronic system to support this service.

You will be based at either our York or Scarborough sites, however cross site working may be required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice, supported by digital technology meets professional standards. This will be done through the provision of clinical expertise, professional direction and effective leadership.

You will be responsible for monitoring the quality of data within the maternity electronic records and will be responsible for identifying areas for improvement and leading on the implementation of improvement plans.

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the principles of clinical governance and risk management are implemented within the Unit. 

The post holder will have direct access to the Deputy and Head of Midwifery for advice and support and they will play an active part in the professional networks within the organisation.

The post holder may be required to participate in the escalation on call Rota.

The NHS Staff Council has accepted the pay offer made by the government for Agenda for Change staff in England, which you will see is reflected on the salary for this role. The new salary rates for this year (2023/24) will take effect from 1 April 2023. Eligible staff can expect to receive the additional 2022/23 payment and the new 2023/24 pay rates (including back pay to 1 April) as part of their pay in June.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of Mentorship qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in all areas of midwifery at Band 6.
  • Experience of working with healthcare administration IT systems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Thorough understanding of the maternity pathways.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
