We are currently looking for a keen and motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse to join our friendly and busy department. You must be a registered nurse with a minimum 2 years post registration experience, within an emergency department.

You will be required to have effective leadership skills, good communication skills, good interpersonal skills and evidence of professional development is a must. The successful candidate will be required to take charge on shift, and maintain the flow of the department in a safe and efficient manner.

You will joining an emergency department that currently sees on average 250 - 300 patients a day .This is an extremely busy, but exciting time to join the Trust, as we are currently reviewing our emergency care processes. The department consists of a streaming area, ambulance assessment area, resuscitation room, majors cubicles and an urgent care centre.

High standards of patient care are our priority, therefore you will be required to work within our Trust Values.

The key areas within this role will be to assist the department Senior Sister/Matron in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of services, and to provide clinical and managerial leadership for nursing and support staff.

There will be an expectation that you can deputise for department Senior Sister/Matron in their absence, with this role you will also be expected to take a lead on clinical practice issues.

We have a dedicated Nurse Educator, as professional development for nursing staff is a priority. During your employment you will have opportunities for different courses and study days, including Immediate Life Support, Recognition of Deteriorating Patient, Advanced Life Support, Trauma Training, Paediatrics Training, Major incident and CBRN training.

You will be required to work a 24/7 rotational shift pattern of days, nights and twilights.
