Job overview

Scrub ODPs and Scrub Nurses – Bank / Temporary Shifts Available

Are you looking for a flexible career opportunity within the NHS? Don’t miss this chance to join our team of ODPs and Nurses at Northampton General Hospital on a bank or temporary basis, working in a dynamic and fast-paced theatre environment.

We offer fantastic opportunities to develop your skills across a wide range of Trauma and Orthopaedic procedures. The hospital has 6 theatre complexes with 18 theatres, and bank staff may also support other areas across the Trust to help meet service needs.

As part of our team, you will help deliver the highest standard of evidence-based perioperative care, contributing to excellent patient experiences and outcomes.

We are strongly committed to education and professional development. Our Education Facilitator, along with Team Leaders, will support you through preceptorship programs, continuing professional development, and career progression within the Trust. As a bank staff member, you will also have the potential to gain experience across all areas of the perioperative environment should you wish, allowing you to broaden your skills and expertise.

This is an ideal opportunity for those seeking flexible hours, weekly pay, and a rewarding NHS experience, while maintaining work–life balance around your existing commitments.

Main duties of the job

As a Theatre Practitioner, you will play a key role in ensuring each theatre runs smoothly. You will work closely with the theatre team to ensure all surgeons’ and anaesthetists’ requirements are ready each day, and assist in theatre to ensure patients have everything they need during the peri-operative and post-operative phases of care.

On a bank basis, you will deliver safe, high-quality care, taking responsibility for supporting effective theatre procedures. You will contribute to making every operation safe, efficient, and patient-focused, while gaining experience across elective and trauma surgeries within our Gynaecology & Obstetrics Theatre.

This role offers the opportunity to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, with the freedom to choose shifts that suit your lifestyle. Bank staff also have the chance to work across different theatre areas within the Trust once competencies are met, providing variety, professional development, and enhanced experience.

If you are motivated, adaptable, and passionate about patient care, this is an ideal opportunity to gain rewarding NHS experience while maintaining work–life balance

Please note, this role does not attract sponsorship.
