Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic registered children's nurse to work within the Nottingham Children's Orthopedic  team to assist with the orthopedic pre assessment clinics.

You will work closely with children, parents, anesthetist, surgeons and multi-disciplinary colleagues to ensure every child is fully assessed supported and ready for their surgical journey.

You will be hospital based with a responsibility to see children in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Nottingham Children’s Hospital has a large team of nurse specialists managed by a specialist nurse matron to optimise support and career development. 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as a specialist nurse within an established multi-professional team caring for children and young people with orthopedics conditions and following trauma.

You will be hospital based supporting the preassessment clinic to assist to ensure every child is fully assessed supported and ready for their surgical journey.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse Child
  • BSc/BA in nursing
  • Demonstrable teaching qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in orthopedics

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Up to date clinical knowledge of general paediatrics
  • Ability to demonstrate IT skills Microsoft Word and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Expierence in orthopedic care and plastering

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of supervising and mentoring other clinical staff
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to implement change and innovation
