Midwifery Matron for Community Engagement and Innovation

Band 8a

The post holder will lead on the development, implementation and evaluation of community engagement and innovation within Maternity and Neonatal services. They will have responsibility with the consultant midwife for Health Inequalities and in collaboration with the matron for Engagement and Experience, to lead on inclusion of communities in developing delivering and evaluating programmes through feedback from active involvement of women, birthing people and families. The post holder will be part of a team of Health Ambassadors visiting schools and communities promoting careers in health and social care at the same time promoting the great work happening at NUH.

The post holder will be a registered midwife with a high level of clinical credibility and a role model who is easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to staff, women, birthing people and families. They have leadership, analytical and judgement skills and experience of developing education and continuing professional development capacity and capability across a range of professionals and community groups and will have experience of leading projects that have made significant impact on patient care and patient experience to address health inequalities, ensuring accessible and responsive services for the most vulnerable women and families.

The post holder will work flexible across all hospital sites and external locations as required.

Working with the Consultant midwife for Health inequalities and in collaboration with the ADN for Leadership, Inclusion & Shared Governance, Clinical Lead for Shared Governance and Inclusive Leadership to produce maternity & neonatal directorate community engagement report and reviews.

Expert resource on Nursing and Midwifery community engagement methods and tools.

Evaluating and measuring impact of initiative, supporting the staff within Maternity & Neonatal services with, information and analysis.

With a maternity and Neonatal focus, supports the ADN for Leadership, Inclusion and Shared Governance to provide assurance on community engagement and inclusion activities progress updates.

Provide updates on activities and progress of the inclusion actions to the Director of Midwifery, Maternity Improvement Programme (MIP) and relevant groups both internal and external.

Provide visible and inspirational leadership with associated senior colleagues for the development of a Trust wide Nursing, Midwifery, and AHP community engagement and information service.

Provide expert resource working with the Director of Midwifery, Divisional Nurse and Human Resources to facilitate the development and continuation of community events feeding into the workforce planning, recruitment and retention, education, research and innovation services for Maternity and Neonates.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or closely Health related degree

Experience

  • Recent experience at a senior level including clinical practice experience across a range of specialities, leading project management, change management, and multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of leading projects in a complex organisation
  • Evidence of leading projects across health and social care settings/clinical practice, teaching and research
  • Experience in national /international networking and presenting to diverse audiences

Communication and Relationship Skills
