This is an exciting time to join Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) and be part of our neonatal senior nursing team.  We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and motivated nurse to join us to take up the post of Lead Nurse for Neonatal Home Care and Family Care. This role will overarch the clinical areas of neonatal Home Care, family support, bereavement support, Low Dependency and discharge.

The post holder will be a key member of the business unit’s senior nursing team. Together with the specialty leads and the matrons, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of safe, effective high quality care across the areas. Following the creation of an EMNODN wide home care service, the post holder will support and enhance existing outreach teams in the North East Midlands region to plan care, promote safe early discharge and transition patients from the neonatal unit to home.

You must be an experienced nurse, with outstanding leadership skills to motivate and lead the teams in your portfolio.  You should demonstrate excellent communication and the ability to manage conflicting demands. You will work within the neonatal service senior nursing team to effectively bring change through engagement with staff within NUH and other organisations within the region.

Main Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with prevention and control of infections, monitoring cleaning of the environment.

Ensuring the highest quality education and development of nursing staff within the neonatal units.

To act as a resource, providing advice on professional nursing issues in relation to clinical interventions, policies and protocols, service delivery and service development.

Training & Qualifications

  • First degree or equivalent in health related subject
  • Management qualification or relevant experience
  • ENB 998 or equivalent teaching course
  • Current level 1 NMC registration
  • Neonatal qualified in speciality course
  • Newborn life support provider

Experience

  • Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an acute NHS setting.
  • Post registration experience including management and leadership experience
  • Knowledge of budgets/financial control
  • Leadership experience of working within a level 3 neonatal unit
