Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit to a Band 7 post to lead our friendly Theatres Recovery team at both QMC and the City Campus, You will be working across campus 5 days a week and there is a commitment to on call duties. 

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person with the appropriate experience and skills to work closely with the existing team structure and demonstrate the skills to support further development of these expanding services.   You will need to demonstrate the ability to be able to work flexibly in diverse clinical environments. The successful applicant will have a high level of self-management skills including time management, prioritisation and organisation.

Main duties of the job

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build on the network required for the role. You will also be able to demonstrate that you have successfully lead change previously and evidence of delivering initiatives and new ways of working.

You must be committed to a high standard of patient care and safety. You will have a flexible attitude to work and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Theatre experience / knowledge is essential. and support network is in place for the successful candidate.

Working for our organisation

All persons appointed to the post are required to hold registration with their appropriate professional regulatory body and to comply with their professional code of conduct. Evidence of on-going registration will be required.

Hours of work are 37.5 worked over 5 days and may include unsociable and out of hours shifts plus on-calls. There will also be the opportunity for the successful candidate to maintain some clinical shifts.

The Clinical Support Division would especially welcome applications from BAME colleagues who are currently underrepresented at this level

Please note, the successful candidate may need to work across as required and agreed by the Theatre Matrons.

Have 24-hour responsibility for managing staff and to ensure that the standards and quality of care together with the environment, in which care is delivered, are maintained at a high standard.

Be an effective leader and role model and will have a particular responsibility to ensure that patients and users are involved in their care, are able to feedback and see improvements made as a result.

To provide regular direct clinical care using the experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance and to modernise patient services.

Work flexibly as a member of the theatre/recovery team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated and where necessary improved.

An understanding of budgetary and financial controls affecting all theatre resources.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive Clinical experience at band 6 within Theatres/Recovery/ Acute care area
  • Is able to co-ordinate the clinical area in order to meet patient needs
  • Has the ability to support flow within recovery and escalate appropriately
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of performance management

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Healthcare practice
  • NMC / HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of leadership and management training.
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards a Masters in a Health related subject
