Job overview
We are looking for an experienced Stoma Nurse Specialist!
There has never been a more exciting time to join the Stoma Speciality here at City Campus at NUH. We provide a specialist Stoma service which includes nephrostomy care, to the whole of Nottinghamshire and the surrounding regions.
If you possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and have a specialist interest in developing the service we provide then please apply, we would be happy to have you as part of our team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an experienced practitioner, acting within their professional boundaries.
You will ultimately use your knowledge and skills to provide expert, efficient and safe patient care. You will demonstrate clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon evidence based practice, and you will learn and develop from working collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team in order to meet the urgent care needs of patients.
You will be based at City Campus, and there will be a requirement to undertake home visits and facilitate the local Stoma support group.

Qualifications/training
Essential criteria
- Current 1st level NMC registration
- Degree in Nursing or relevant Health related subject
Desirable criteria
- Urology related course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant Urology experience and understanding of complications and management of urological health issues
- Autonomous and wider MDT working
Desirable criteria
- Senior nurse experience
- Skilled in speciality specific procedures eg: flexible cystoscopies, LATP biopsies, uro dinamics
Analytical and judgement
Essential criteria
- Able to respond to complex situations - put effective interventions in place
- Able to critically analyse and evaluate research findings
- Knowledge of Specialty pathways and national cancer targets
Desirable criteria
- experience of writing audit/research reports for a multiprofessional audience
Planning and organisational
Essential criteria
- able to organise own workload and prioritise effectively
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of participating in local projects
