Job overview

The CAMHS HEAD 2 HEAD team are looking to recruit two experienced, enthusiastic and committed CAMHS Mental Health Workers to work within the team. The post holder will need to be an experienced and skilled CAMHS Practitioner, who has experience and skill in providing specialist CAMHS assessment and intervention and knowledge and interest in working with those young people who are involved in the Youth Justice service, have co-existing substance use difficulties, Harmful Sexual behaviour, First Episode Psychosis and At Risk Mental State.

The CAMHS HEAD 2 HEAD team is a well-established team within CAMHS and we are looking for clinicians who want to work within a supportive and challenging team, which has a strong focus on providing high quality CAMHS provision for socially excluded populations.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. 

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job

Provide a defined level of CAMHS specialist assessment and interventions, through an assertive outreach model to a diverse and challenging group of young people and their families who present with significant mental health difficulties and who are open to the Youth Justice System, those who have co-existing substance use difficulties, Harmful sexual behaviour and first Episode Psychosis and At Risk Mental State. 

A full UK driving license and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To offer mental health assessment and intervention, as part of a well established MDT, through an assertive outreach model to a defined group of young people and their families. The role will also include offering consultation to partners and participation in panels which offer planning for those on the  Youth Justice pathway.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant professional qualification eg RMN. RN, HV, OT, clinical psychology, Social Worker at degree level or higher; teaching qualification
  • Registration with relevant professional body.
Desirable criteria
  • Educated to Degree level.
  • Qualification in therapeutic approaches with children and families.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven post qualification experience.
  • Experience of Multi agency and multi-disciplinary working.
  • Skills and experience of working with children, young people and families around a range of emotional/mental health, neurodiversity and additional health or developmental needs.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of the ability to use and provide clinical supervision.
  • Community experience.
  • Experience of working with young people who have been involved with the Youth Justice system, those with co-exiting substance use needs, First onset psychosis and At Risk Mental State and those who present with Harmful sexual behaviour.

Training

  • Teaching/presentation skills.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Government policies and legislation and their effects upon practice.
  • Risk assessment/risk management.
  • Person -centered approaches.
  • Knowledge and experience of provision of a holistic emotional/mental health assessment.
  • Knowledge and experience of the provision of different models of therapy and interventions.
  • Ability to manage a defined caseload and organise own work schedule.
  • Ability to maintain accurate case records in line with Trust policies and procedure
  • Ability to be an autonomous practitioner whilst being able to work as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to use electronic data recording systems.
  • Service evaluation methods, audit and research.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to identify training needs and prepare and deliver training packages for partner agencies.
  • Ability to offer individual and group therapeutic interventions.
Desirable criteria
  • Providing clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff and learners.
