Job overview

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and self -motivated registered nurse to join the MRI nursing team at QMC.  You will be required to be a flexible member of the team, providing support to the modality manager and fellow band 6 MRI Specialist Nurses, to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.

The successful candidate will work as part of the MRI nursing team to provide a high quality service; ensuring excellent standards of patient care are delivered and maintained before, during and after having a procedure in MRI. 

You will be an effective role model, delivering regular clinical care. The provision of clinical and non-clinical governance is an essential part of the role.

We require an enthusiastic and conscientious team player with excellent communication skills who is well motivated and reliable. Previous experience/current experience of airway management and post procedure recovery of adults and children following GA is advantageous for this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

      

As an MRI specialist nurse, you are required to be an effective leader and role model, providing regular clinical care to your patients. You will utilise your experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance. You will support your fellow MRI specialist nurses to deliver high standards of patient care that is evidence-based. In collaboration with the modality manager for MRI, you will ensure all patients receive a good experience by evaluating patient processes and redesigning the pathway of care. You will be required to recover patients post GA and therefore,  must maintain your airway management competency and training.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current Level One NMC
  • Competent in medicines management
  • Experience in recovering patients from a general anesthetic
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma or degree in health/ nursing related studies
  • Evidence of continuing professional development/reflective profile
  • Completion of all local competency packages or has undertaken WINW packages relevant to role
  • Formal leadership and management training
  • Experience of working with MRI

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of delivering nursing care to a group of patients
  • Supervision of non registered staff and students
  • Ability to manage the clinical area effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, carers and staff
  • Previous experience of airway management
Desirable criteria
  • Recent or current experience within the speciality
  • Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse or project work
  • Audit or research within the clinical area
  • Providing staff with feedback on their individual performance and conduct appraisals

Communication and relationship

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate basic IT skills
  • Produce timely, accurate written and electronic ercords and documents
  • Can minimise interpersonal conflict and barriers to communication
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of negotiation and influencing skills
  • Demonstrate evidence of providing formal teaching sessions
  • Demonstration of team working and ability to work well within a team

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of current issues related to the NHS policies
