Band 2 Nursing Assistant

Band 2

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

We are looking for Band 2 Nursing Assistants  to join the team on the Surgical Emergency Unit (SEU).

SEU Wards

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic wards as a Band 2 Nursing Assistant at SEU within one of our units. The SEU is a fast paced and dynamic clinical area at the John Radcliffe Hospital, caring for patients with a wide range of general surgical conditions, covering upper and lower gastrointestinal, and hepatobiliary conditions. The unit has 50 in-patient beds across 3 ward areas and a nurse-led triage area which receives patients referred directly by their GP, the Emergency Department or out-patient clinics. If you are successful in being shortlisted for this role you will have a Value Based Interview (VBI) as part of the standard selection process along with a short technical interview. The aim of the VBI interview is to recruit people into the OUH who share our values and are therefore dedicated to Delivering Compassionate Excellence, the type of care you would like to receive for yourself or a member of your family.

Internal rotation to nights and weekends is essential to this position.

Closing date: 09-Feb-2021

Planned interview date: TBC

It is vital that you provide full and accurate details of your current immigration status on the application form. Overseas applicants applying for entry clearance into the UK must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided in continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Guidance can be found hereCriminal records checks for overseas applicants. Not everyone needs a ‘Skilled Worker’ visa. If you are applying for a vacancy in health or adult social care, check if you’re eligible to apply for the Health and Care Worker visa instead. It’s cheaper to apply for and you do not need to pay the annual immigration health surcharge
