Join Our Haematology Ambulatory Care Team at the Royal United Hospital, Bath
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to become part of the Haematology Ambulatory Care team at the Royal United Hospital (RUH), Bath. This role is ideal for a motivated and compassionate professional looking to develop advanced clinical skills and contribute to a dynamic, patient‑centred service.
As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with the Haematology Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) and Haematology Medical Nurse Practitioner (MNP) to manage a caseload of Haematology patients using an ambulatory model of care. This includes reviewing patients in our outpatient day unit, delivering high‑quality clinical assessments, and administering SACT and other supportive treatments, including blood product transfusions.
In this role, you will:
- Provide safe, effective, and holistic care to Haematology patients attending the ambulatory service
- Offer advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and fellow healthcare professionals
- Contribute to pathway improvements and service development
- Participate in teaching, training, and ongoing professional development

Main duties of the job
The main duties and responsibilities include:
- To work alongside the Haematology ACP and MNP in managing the Haematology Ambulatory Care service at the RUH, Bath.
- To provide direct clinical care, assessments and support to patients.
- To provide advice and support to the patient's carer/family members
- To coordinate and organise the patient's management plan and obtain consent to the Haematology Ambulatory Care Service
- To provide advice to health care professionals.
- To carry out regular audit, improvement and service development work.
- To carry out education and training.
They will be supporting the HACS Advanced Clinical Practitioner, HACS Medical Nurse Practitioner and the wider team through the process of change, demonstrating tenacity, drive, professional integrity, balance and perspective.
They will participate in and contribute to innovation and take a proactive approach to service redesign or review where required, ensure these are linked to organisational priorities and support improved outcomes.
They will be expected to work cooperatively in partnership with others in planning, reviewing and developing the service

Person specification
Education
Essential criteria
- Registration with NMC
- Completion of SACT passport or equivalent competency
- Demonstrates evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
- Specialist qualifications (such as diploma) and/or experience within specialist area of Haematology
- Venepuncture and cannulation competency
Desirable criteria
- Degree level learning/work towards Masters Degree
- History taking and clinical assessment course or willing to undertake
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration Haematology experience, at band 5 level. Able to demonstrate effective consolidation of nursing knowledge & practice during working as a Band 5 registered nurse
- Evidence of ability to work autonomously, under own initiative within boundaries of role
- Evidence of competency in teaching and assessment
- Demonstrates evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
- Evidence of SACT passport and blood product transfusion competencies
- Competence in the safe administration of systemic anti cancer treatments and blood product transfusion
- Demonstrates evidence of well-developed clinical practice
- Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and written to staff, patients and relatives ensuring that communication is tailored to the person being addressed
- Able to document observations, results, decisions and actions etc. effectively in patient notes and communicate these effectively to appropriate members of the multi-disciplinary team

- Experience of audit and research
