The PMHS role is embedded within the LA team and will provide consultation to social care staff about young people with emotional and mental health needs, providing advice and support to upskill professionals to identify mental health needs and appropriately intervene. Some of these young people/families will require assessment and interventions from the post holder and are likely to require an assertive outreach approach to aid engagement. Other young people may be supported into the locality CAMHS team (for example those with eating disorders). The post will also provide training to social care staff and other professional working with children and young people.

You will be welcomed into an established and experienced Primary Mental Health Specialist team within South Gloucestershire and Bristol (including PMHS working in Bristol locality social care teams). You will also access support, training and regular supervision from the South Gloucestershire locality CAMHS team.

South Gloucestershire CAMHS service has radically transformed in recent years. This includes significantly improved waiting times; fantastic team skill mix and opportunities for innovative practice. We also strive to provide compassionate leadership as we recognize the importance of staff well-being. As part of the wider local CAMHS service we are moving towards an I-Thrive approach to ensure our service is more responsive, accessible and effective.
