Job overview

We are recruiting for a vacancy in our Bristol South and East Central Mental Health Support Team.  This is a full time position that carries a portfolio of both Primary and Secondary Schools that the post holder will be based in for most of their working week. 

*Please note we are looking for qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners, therefore, we can only accept candidates that has completed a Education Mental Health Practitioner course.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will deliver, high-quality; outcome-informed, focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties. 

This will include one-one work, group work, whole class, or larger assemblies. 

The post holder will have the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to ensure that children and young people will have access to timely, high quality, evidence based mental health support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a post for a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP) who has completed the Child and Young Person’s (CYP) Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) course.  The EMHP will have skills in assessment and treatment in delivering low intensity evidence-based interventions with CYP presenting with anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties. The EMHP will also deliver whole school approaches with a strong emphasis on participation with young people, their families and carers.

Essential criteria
  • Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1yr ‘Education Mental Health Practitioner’ course.
Desirable criteria
  • A further relevant degree qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
  • Experience of working with children and young people in educational settings
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of navigating complex social systems and environments, who may have conflicting priorities or agendas
