Trainee Rapid Diagnostic Practitioner

Job overview
To provide non-medical led clinical management for patients requiring care across a number of specialities. The role will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team which comprise senior nurses (site cover), advanced clinical practitioners, doctors in training and medical consultants as well as other traditional health care roles. The trainee Rapid Diagnostic practitioner will work within a defined scope of practice and to agree clinical standards applied within a Trust wide and local setting. The role will be multifactorial and include prescribing and advanced clinical assessment of all systems, diagnostic skills and understanding of investigations. The role will improve the quality of, and access to health care provision and strengthen professional leadership
Main duties of the job
The trainee Rapid Diagnostic Practitioner will be responsible and accountable for their practice and behaviour under the guidance and supervision of the Band 7
- Understand the boundaries of the cancer care coordinator role and act in a way that is consistent with legislation, policies, procedures and acquisition of competencies
- Work under minimal supervision and fulfil service requirements
- To ensure that all patient care is delivered with the highest degree of professionalism
- To present an appearance which gives a positive image of the Trust and act in a manner that inspires confidence and is compliant with the Trust s uniform Policy

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in an acute clinical setting Highly specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience
- Evidence of competence across a range of clinical assessment skills required for the post
- Experience of teaching and mentoring
- Complex reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to inform assessments, clinical judgements and decisions
- Evidence of management skills gained through theory and or practice
Desirable criteria
- Research and development activity
- Clinical expertise in the specific role
- Experience running and managing nurse led clinics independently
- Knowledge and experience managing patients with colorectal and UGI symptoms/disease/pathways
Qualifications & Training

- First level registered nurse – current registration
- Teaching and assessing qualification

- Up to date knowledge of professional issues
