Rotational Shift Pattern

We are looking to recruit a potential senior nurse leader to join our innovative management team in Doncaster, as part of our staffing structure review. We have 46 beds distributed over 3 wards, including our 6 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

We want to hire someone who can demonstrate convincing clinical leadership skills at this level who is committed to furthering their professional development. We see our service as a genuine specialism and this post forms part of our plan to provide career progression alongside continuous service improvement. 

You'll have the scope to complement and support our innovative leadership team. Recent inspirational quality enhancements include, embedding the principles of the Safe Wards model to inform clinical practice and upskilling nurses to provide psychologically informed patient interventions. 

Main duties of the job

You must be a qualified RMN, able to demonstrate related learning beyond registration and be prepared to continue enhancing your clinical skills. It is important that you have an understanding of multidisciplinary service provision and the challenges that face people with acute mental health issues, along with the staff who support them. We want to hire someone that is passionate about mental healthcare, with a strong conviction for recovery focused practice and possesses communications skills of the highest calibre. You must show that you are caring and compassionate with a desire to safely manage your staff team for the benefit of our patients in an effective and efficient way. You must have an excellent understanding of risk assessment and management and how to work within professional boundaries. Our service is challenging, stimulating, diverse and very rewarding.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable post-registration experience working with adults with mental health needs.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in a clinical leadership role
  • Experience in using psychological and acute interventions with up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practice
  • Highly developed clinical reasoning skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of clinical risk assessment and management
  • Managerial experience

SKills / Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable effective leadership skills
  • Proven ability in the application of PBS plans and attendant risk assessments, and care planning
  • Ability to work, motivate, manage and support a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of the 1983 Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • Ability to interpret research and apply to practice
  • Ability to supervise and motivate others.

Training and Qualififcations

Essential criteria
  • RMN (current NMC registration)
  • Mentor Preparation qualification or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional and personal development
