Job overview

The RDaSH School Age Immunisation Team are looking for an enthusiastic and self motivated Registered Nurse to deliver routine immunisations in school as part of the national immunisation schedule.

The successful candidate will work alongside existing team members to promote immunisations and ensure that all children eligible are offered a vaccination including those most vulnerable. 

To do this you will work in partnership with schools, parents/guardians, children and young people using innovative ways in which to increase uptake. The hours are worked over four days from 8am - 4pm in term time only. 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. Ideally they  will have experience of working in community with children and young people and have knowledge of immunisation programmes. 

The successful candidate will be able to gain in depth knowledge about the vaccination programmes we deliver so that they can promote these vaccinations and address any queries or concerns. As a member of the team the successful candidate will review the health  needs of eligible individuals to ensure they are up to date with vaccines and that they have no contraindications to receiving a specific vaccine.  They will work with the team to contact all parents/guardians who have not returned consent forms to obtain either consent or refusal. 

The successful candidate must be able to vaccinate children/young people in a variety of settings safely and effectively and complete all necessary documentation. To do this they will need to be able to work confidently with computers and computer systems.
