Job overview
Open to Internal MPFT Applicants Only
Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust is now welcoming applications from experienced health care support workers (Nursing) to undertake a transition programme to become a Nursing Associate. This vacancy is only accepting applications from staff members who are currently employed on the inpatient ward at the redwoods centre.
The programme starts in September 2026 at Keele University, at the Telford campus.
During the programme trainees will attend university for two days each week and undertake protected learning time for one day per week (7.5h); during the rest of the working week, they will work in the clinical area.
External placements (in other areas) are also required to ensure all trainees gain the right experience to complete the programme. Trainees will be expected to work the usual shifts (including night shifts) within their placement areas, across the whole 24-hour period including weekends and public holidays.
on completion for the course the successful applicant will remain employed as a qualified band 4 nurse associate.
Main duties of the job
The Nursing Associate training programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers. The trainee Nursing Associate will be based, as an employee, in a specific setting, but will experience working in alternative settings including in hospital, care at home and care close to home, in order that they gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts and are able to fulfil all the requirements of the programme.
At the end of the programme, the trainee Nursing Associate will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as a Nursing Associate and will work to Nursing & Midwifery (NMC) Code.
