An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse to join the team at Staffordshire Children's Hospital at Royal Stoke. The role will be based on Ward 217B, Children's Oncology Day Unit.

Main duties of the job
To assess, develop, implement and evaluate nursing care needs of children and families/carers within the ward or department in order to provide and maintain a high standard of informed and effective holistic care following a formal period of preceptorship. To participate and contribute to the teaching requirements of the ward and department. To contribute to the management of the nursing services by taking charge the clinical area when required on an occasional basis if applicable to that clinical area. To rotate to other clinical areas as requested, to meet the demands of the service and fulfil professional educational needs. To participate in the development of clinical audit, ensuring that a prominent nursing contribution is made.

Essential criteria
- Registered Children's Nurse Degree/Diploma
- Registered on NMC Register
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- One year post-registration experience in Children's Oncology
- CVL Trained
- Supportive Care Course/Introduction to Chemotherapy course or equivalent.
- Mentorship or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- SACT trained or willingness to undertake
Personal Qualities
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to use initiative
- Ability to work as part of a team

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
