We are pleased to offer exciting opportunities for Band 5 Theatre Scrub Practitioners with an interest in Orthopaedic surgery to join our team at Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot. Opened in March 2022, our modern facility provides excellent, purpose-built theatre environments.

Our GIRFT-accredited Theatre department includes six laminar flow theatres, specialising in elective orthopaedic procedures including hip and knee replacements, spinal, shoulder, foot and ankle surgery. We also support cross-site green trauma where required.

We welcome applications from Registered Nurses, Registered ODPs, final-year students nearing qualification, and return-to-practice practitioners who are keen to build a career in orthopaedics.

You will be supported by an experienced and friendly team and guided through a structured competency programme to develop into a confident, skilled orthopaedic practitioner.

Newly qualified practitioners will benefit from a comprehensive 12-month preceptorship programme, including 14 days of protected study leave, designed to support learning and professional development to the highest standards.

  • Support the Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner team in maintaining a positive and effective working environment, ensuring the efficient use of staff, supplies, and resources.
  • Provide a high standard of support to the perioperative team in delivering safe, high-quality patient care within the theatre setting.
  • Work as a skilled and active member of the multidisciplinary theatre team.
  • Promote effective communication between theatre staff, medical teams, wards, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Contribute to achieving organisational Quality Assurance and Risk Management objectives.
  • Ensure all equipment is regularly checked, maintained, and used safely in accordance with policy.
  • Support the training and development of junior staff and colleagues from other disciplines working within the department.
