Job overview
This is an exciting time to join Ashford & St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as we work on the expansion of our theatres at Ashford Hospital, and move towards Ashford Hospital becoming our dedicated elective centre. Our vision is to create a state-of-the-art centre for excellence for planned surgical procedures; with care delivered by dedicated, specialist teams in a modern and well-equipped environment.
We hope to use this centre to create an environment of learning and facilitate training of the next generation of our skilled NHS workforce. We are seeking an exceptional and experienced motivated Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner who is proactive, self-motivated, has very strong interpersonal skills, and a vision for service improvement to join as a deputy team leader. You will be expected to actively support, coordinate and assist in the management and delivery of high-quality care to patients during the peri-operative phase of their care.
As a Deputy Team Leader you will be expected to demonstrate being an excellent role model, and have the skills and knowledge to be an effective leader.

Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the Team Leaders and Theatre Coordinator in the establishment of a good working environment and in making the most effective/efficient use of staff, supplies and services.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they have a high level organisational skills including time management, the ability to confidently prioritise and organise clinical and managerial responsibilities. You will also be expected to participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team, including supporting and developing junior and new members of the team; and be committed to delivering a high-quality service to ensure patient care, safety and experience is the best it can be.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You should have an excellent all around knowledge and skill to cover different theatres team leading Orthopaedic theatre list and organising instruments/consumables and managing day to day operations to ensure that patient safety and infection control standards are maintained.
Applicants must have a level of management skills including time management, prioritization and organizational skills and the ambition to develop themselves and others. You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong belief in providing the best patient centred care possible. You will be expected to help maintain high standards of practice and act as a role model to your team.
Take personal responsibility to maintain own continuous professional development and safe work practice.
You will be required to demonstrate leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process.
As a Deputy Team Leader you will be expected to demonstrate being an excellent role model, and have the skills and knowledge to be an effective leader. You will be able to provide specialist surgical scrub and circulating clinical support and be encouraged to work towards acting up in the absence of seniors

- RGN/RODP Registered with NMC/HCPC, with considerable experience

- Significant experience as Band 5 nurse of which some managing/leading

- Demonstrate understanding of quality improvement and audits
