Main duties of the job
Be an autonomous practitioner supporting the physiological birth process assessing, identifying abnormalities and escalating concerns as required for further MDT input.
Provide professional clinical midwifery care in uncomplicated pregnancies during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages.
Ensure referral to the appropriate health professional when deviations from the normal occur and to work in partnership with that health professional to facilitate ongoing assessments and safe standards of care.

The rotational period will be set by the trust as per their workforce plan.
When community based, the post holder will be expected to participate in the 24 hour on call rota
Whilst in the hospital the post holder will be required to undertake shiftwork including nights and weekends.
When not on the community on call rota will be expected to participate in the trust ‘Hands on help’ on call rota

Professional Registration
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Midwife
- 1Nursing or Midwifery degree or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- SSSA/Practice Assessor
- Completed band 5 preceptorship programme
- Clinical experience in a busy NHS hospital
- Evidence based practice and its implementation
- Understanding of national policies and guidelines including Clinical risk management, CNST and NICE
Desirable criteria
- Trust vision, values, strategic objectives and key work programmes

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
